Created through a partnership with the University of Colorado School of Public Health (CSPH), this initiative has evolved through a series of observations, assessments, and recommendations from a task force of experts, including doctors, faculty artists, Board and staff members. This program’s primary purpose is to assess, educate, and support our artists in using safe art practices in environmentally safe studios.
In the coming year, you will see many positive changes in our studios, including the posting of information on toxic materials and suggested replacements, new containers for the disposal of toxic and combustible materials, and recommendations on how artists might better protect themselves from toxic materials. Eye, ear, breathing, and skin protection as well as equipment will be introduced to artist and once funding has been secured, we will also explore new ventilation and cleaning systems for our facilities.
